Ventanilla and Escobilla
Ventanilla and Escobilla (Reptile Sanctuaries) During this tour we drive to the lagoon of Ventanilla where we take a boat ride to cross the swamp and admire the exuberant vegetation and the wild life that prevail in this environment called mangrove, such as iguanas, fresh water turtles, different species of birds and of course the king of this lagoon, " the american crocodile". We stop in an island where they have another species of animals that have been confiscated by the "SEMARNAT" to people who had them as pets, and a nursery of baby crocodiles which will be released in to the lagoon as soon as they are one year old. After Ventanilla we drive for another thirty minutes to Escobilla (sea turtles sanctuary) where a phenomenon that is called "arribada" takes place seven times a year. This consist in the synchronization of thousands of "olive ridley" marine turtles that come out to this beach to lay their egs. Forty five days later, the new born turtles come out from the nest and start the fight for survival and you can help them to get it releasing your own baby turtles. Duration: 7 hours
